Small Child n Sweets

Once a boy went to a shop with his mother. The shop keeper looked at the small cute child and showed him a bottle with sweets

and said 'Dear Child..u can take the sweets...

But the child didn't take. The shop keeper was surprised.. such a small child he is and why is he not taking the sweets from the bottle. Again he said take the sweets....

Now the mother also heard that and said.. take the sweets dear.. Yet he didn't take... The shopkeeper seeing the child not taking the sweets... he himself took the sweets and gave to the child. The child was happy to get two hands full of sweets.

While returning home the Mother asked the child... Why didn't you take the sweets, when the shop keeper told you to take?..

Can you guess the response: Child replies... Mom! my hands are very small and if i take the sweets i can only take few.. but now you see when uncle gave with his big hands.... how many more sweets i got!

Moral: When we take we may get little but when God gives... HE gives us more beyond our expectations... more than what we can hold..!!

God has editing rights over our prayers. He will... edit them, correct them, bring them in line with His will and then hand them back to us to be resubmitted

Loyalty

Date: Some where between 356 BC - 323 BC
Location: Greece

100 good horses are taken to be trained for battles. They are provided with intensive war-fare training for 3 months. Training includes running in a max speed, stopping at once on that speed, jumping over fences of different heights, sliding, kicking using back legs or front legs, running in stones, water n sand etc...

At the end of 3 months only a few survive the training, rest die or get removed. Max of 20-25 horses survive.

After the 3 months, these shortlisted horses are exposed to a training of 1 more month. This part includes, heavy healthy diet food and usual stunts. In addition to this, a special program is put on subject. This includes just 4 signals. Signal is actually the sound of vigil. A single vigil blown, the horse has to get up n stand in attention position, ready to go. Two vigils blown, the horse has to walk. Three blown, running starts. Four blown continuously, the horse has to get back to the starting position or to the position where the rider is standing.

So after this one month training, 3 more days of final training exists. This particular part is such that, the horses are tied in the stable. Food n water are placed in front of the horses, 500 metres distant. No food is given in these 3 days, food is just placed and horses are tempted.

Final day of testing, day four.

The commander king comes to the test location(stables where those horses are placed).
A single vigil is blown and the gates are opened. In a minute or two, three vigils together are blown. These horses which are hungry for food n starving literally, race towards the food, when the horses are almost reaching the food placed there, four vigils are blown. Of these shortlisted 20-25 horses, only 1-3 horses follow the code and get back to the master.

These horses are selected to be used in the battles, rest are discarded.

This process is done over thousands of horses and few hundreds are used in battles.

These are the real loyal horses which have undergone the rigorous training procedures. This commander king is none other than Alexander, the Great.

Central Prison, Mysore

Date: 18'03'09
Time: 1.15 PM
Location: Central Prison, Mysore
I was with the family of 'Duniya' Vijay, the Winner of Karnataka State Best Actor Award on his debut. We were on a visit to the prison where he was shooting for his next movie titled Devru (meaning God). Sadhu Kokila, the man behind the mike. The purpose of visit was different. Vijay who is earlier popular for his involvment in social services like adopting few orphans, building a oldage home etc was again going to do a rare fete here. He was going to pay a fine of Rs 50,500 and set free a old lady prisoner who has been in the jail for over 5 years n 4 months. At noon 2 P.M, the process was done, payment of fine money n setting her free. This was done in the presence of jail superintendent, media people, movie crew on the hands of Vijay's mother Narayanamma. The prisoner was a aged lady with severe health problems, so she was seleted to get freed. After the prisoner was set free, we had the chance to meet few inmates with the permission of the head of the prison. I was able to talk to few prisoners. Most of the prisoners I interacted were highly educated like University professors, docterate holders, software engineers, doctors etc. They were very much regretting for the crimes they had committed, most of the offences were done in a splash of seconds. Temporary anger n hatred had forced them to commit the crimes. Very few were done with preplanned n organised. There was also this celebrity prisoner inside, Muthulakshmi, the widow of Veerappan.
But I was very much shocked to find that the prison was taken care in a very much humanitarian mode. We hear most of the prison cases that the facilities n the treatment inside was very harsh, but this was really an exception. Many facilities were provided for the inmates like library, worship places for 3 religions, employment schemes, educational programmes, health awareness programmes etc. And also the cleanliness in the cooking n staying places was hygienic.
On a whole, the trip was a all new different experience. Thanks to Miss.Shanthi, a police officer who escorted us inside the visit.

Wanna be a Jimmy?????

It was 4 O'clock in the morning, and I was driving back from a great party in my 20-year-old mini-minor.
Suddenly I felt that my tire was flat.
There I was, sitting in the dark, complete with the knowledge that I did not have a spare.
What to do?
Who can I call in the middle of the night in this unknown neighborhood?
I felt lost.
Then I remembered that the person who told me about this party lived in the neighborhood.
I didn't know him very well but I thought he might still be awake.
So I phoned and told him my story.
Within 10 minutes the man was assessing the damage, and contemplating the next step.
Within 30 minutes I had a new tire and was on my way home.
This was Jimmy.

I will never forget Jimmy as he taught me the meaning and the importance of service.

We all have our own Jimmies.
Those people that gave us service without any expectation, and became imprinted on our hearts.

The first person that gave you service was your mother.
Your mother fed and bathed you, changed your cloths, took care when you were sick, made sure you'll receive your education, to name but a few.
This is why we can never get over our mother... (Remember that for the next Mother's Day...)

Other people who served you would be your father, your extended family, your teachers and your friends...
Many were there for you on your path...

Yet, at the end of your life, who will you remember?
You will remember those people that were there for you, when you needed them most.
People that came at 4:00 a.m. to change your wheel;
Those that came with chicken soup when you were sick;
Those that remained when you were in trouble;

For whom were you available?

Service is synonymous with support.
It is the giving of assistance or support to another with an absence of judgment.
Today, this term is used mostly in the business sense.
However, in relationship, it has a much more important role.

When you are in a relationship because of certain reasons, remember that these reasons will change with time.
Let's say that you entered a relationship because your partner is funny.
After a few years you heard all his/her jokes. Not so funny anymore...
The same goes for intelligence...
As for beauty - well, beauty fades away.
If it is money that you're after - money comes, money goes...

The only quality that transcends time is service.
Service is about taking care of each other.
We never forget those who served us and we'll always be touched by them.

Jimmies are rare but immortal.
How about becoming a Jimmy?

A lonely-old widow enters a bank. She holds her ATM card in one hand n a cash withdrawal form in the other n stands in a long queue at the cash counter. A young person notices that she has a ATM card n asks her, u have the card, then why do u stand in the queue. She gave a smile n whispered to him, but the ATM does not wish me or ask me like the cashier here, how r u doing? I have no body to look after, I am alone.
